The mayor mr.krishna murari moghe exhorted the scout guides to cultivate habit of hand washing for health life. He urged them to be ready to spread the message of maintaining personal hygiene for good health saying that the children too have a vital role to play in building a Healthy Madhya Pradesh. He was addressing at least one thousand scouts guides of indore who gathered at district scout headquarter here today to celebrate the occasion of world hand washing day. The programme was organized by the Bharat Scout and Guide Madhya Pradesh in collaboration with the Unicef.
Mr moghe urged the children to spread the message of cleanliness for health. He said that India has a long standing tradition of washing hands and feet before having meals. There is need to keep alive the tradition, he added.
Referring to a Sanskrit couplet, he said that the hands symbolize strength. Good health needs clean hands. Describing children as leaders of families, she said that messages delivered by them are appealing even to the elders. He said that the hand washing day should not be a ritual. It is concept. This day inspires everyone to cultivate good habits for mental and physical wellness.
The Unicef divisional officer Mr. sanjay singh thanked the Bharat Scout Guide Madhya Pradesh for cooperation in organizing the hand washing day. He said that the habit of hand washing is a way to save life. Children enjoy it, play and learn and they can be a vehicle of spreading important message. He stressed the need for continuing the campaign for healthy and prosperous India. He thanked the children who participated in the campaign.
Asst.State Organising Commissioner Bharat Scout and Guide Mr hidayatullah sidhiqui stressed the need for linking the campaign of hand washing to mid day meal programme in order to promote the habit of hand washing among children. He said that the initiative will be taken by the Bharat Scout and Guide to organize school level completion on good health and hygiene. He said that message of hand washing day should be disseminated among all school children through video conferencing.
At the outset, the Mr.moghe inaugurated an exhibition displaying charts, posters and models showing the importance of hand washing.
